Estradiol cream

This cream delivers bioidentical estradiol (the same estrogen your body makes) through your skin and into your bloodstream. It helps relieve menopause symptoms like hot flashes, night sweats, and mood swings. It also helps support bone health and may improve sleep and energy.

Transdermal/topical estrogen does not increase the risk of blood clots to the same degree as oral estrogens, making it a preferred option for patients with controlled hypertension or higher Body Mass Index (BMI). It also offers an alternative for women with adhesive allergies or skin irritation from patches, and allows for flexible dosing not always available in commercial products.

• Prime: If it’s a new pump, press it a few times until cream comes out.
• Dispense: Push the pump all the way down for your exact dose.
• Spread: Rub into a thin layer until absorbed (about the size of two silver dollars).
• The “One-Hour Rule”
  - Do not wash the area for at least 1 hour after applying.
  - Cover the area with clothing to prevent transfer to partners, children, or pets.
• Clean up: Wash your hands right away with soap and water to avoid transferring the hormone to others.

Apply at the same time every day to keep hormone levels steady. Morning works well for many women, but consistency matters most.

Apply to clean, dry skin on your inner thighs or inner forearms. Do not apply to your breasts or genital area, as this can change absorption.

Rotate sides each day to prevent irritation.

Yes, but don’t apply them at the same time or on the same spot. Wait at least 20–30 minutes before putting lotions, oils, or creams on that area.

Apply estradiol cream first. Let it dry completely (wait 20–30 minutes) before applying sunscreen. Sunscreen can block absorption if applied too soon.

Yes, the cream base is usually well tolerated. If you have very sensitive skin or eczema, test a small area first. Contact your primary care provider if you develop a lasting rash.

Do not use during pregnancy. If breastfeeding, talk to your Midi clinician.  

Rinse your eyes right away with lukewarm water for several minutes. Contact your primary care provider or emergency services if irritation continues.

• Store at room temperature in a dry place
• Avoid steamy bathrooms
• Keep the cap tightly closed
• Keep out of reach of children and pets (the cream can be absorbed through skin)
