The Big Picture
  • Social media is full of dubious health advice that ranges from a little questionable to downright dangerous, so we want to make it easy for you to find reputable advice from trusted sources.
  • We’ve compiled a list of 45 women’s health experts who have a particular focus on the menopause transition that should be on your radar.
  • And the info these women share is even more meaningful when you know they’ve experienced this life stage themselves and can back up their advice with quality science.

If there’s one universal truth about the menopause journey, it’s this: You shouldn’t have to go it alone. From trusted friends to healthcare professionals and wellness experts to people you follow on social media, it’s important to surround yourself with women who get it. They know what you’re going through and how to help you get through.

That’s why we’ve put together this list of the top 45 women’s health specialists over 45 who are worth listening to. Afterall, the average age of menopause for women in the United States is 51 with many women entering perimenopause in their 40s. With that comes symptoms like weight gain, bone loss, increased risk of heart disease, libido changes, brain fog, among other effects. In short, there’s a lot going on once you hit the 45-year mark (and in the years leading up to it). You shouldn’t have to weather those changes on your own.

At Midi Health, we hear from patients all the time who have been led astray by medical misinformation. Social media is full of dubious health advice that ranges from a little questionable to downright dangerous, so we want to make it easy for you to find reputable advice from trusted sources. The info these women share is even more meaningful when you know they’ve experienced this life stage themselves and can back up their advice with quality science. And, most importantly, they can help you feel less alone. We’re truly all in this together.

Here, our list of the top 45 women’s health experts over 45, specializing in all things aging and menopause. They should all be on your radar, whether you follow them on social media, listen to their podcasts, read their books, or seek them out for clinical care.

When looking for a list of women’s health specialists over 45, our entire team at Midi spent more than a month researching voices who have a personal understanding of women’s midlife health, including but definitely not limited to menopause. We also looked for a few other things to ensure they fit the bill, including:

  • Legitimate credentials: An expert should, obviously, be extremely knowledgeable in what they’re talking about, and that means having the right background, expertise, and training. We sought out specialists with strong educational backgrounds, like board-certified OB/GYNs, registered dieticians, and certified menopause practitioners.
  • Strong social media presence: Women’s health experts don’t need to be huge influencers with a million followers in order to be taken seriously. We sought out voices that present factual information in a way that is easy for followers to understand. We looked for specialists who regularly share research, tips, and advice
  • Extensive experience in their field: The experts on this list aren’t just practicing OB/GYNs or nutritionists who share tips on Instagram. Most of them have impressive resumes that feature a variety of accomplishments. Many work in the medical field but also host a podcast, have written books on women’s health, speak in public and in the media to advocate for women, and have founded companies to help women find accessible care. ‍

Our list includes a variety of experts who share one common goal: to help women, especially women in midlife, get the care they deserve.
